The New Receptionist! Some New Patients Too!

"I've been waiting for half an hour!"

(A long time ago we had these black cats, Goblin (big guy on the left) and Soot, (kitten) who just loved to come in the office and sit in the waiting room chairs. It always looked as if they were next in line!)

"I'm sorry, we're booked solid!" (And if that phone rings once more, I'm NOT answering it! I'm on break!)

"I can't seem to find your file. When were you here last?"

(OUR pages are cat-eared!)

"Okay, I'm officially on break!"

"I wonder what that machine could do for all my aches and pains? Think I'd better chew the wires and find out!"

(Our cat, Socks, loves sitting in various chairs in the office. She works the waiting room to get her daily dose of attention and she usually gets quite a bit!)

In Search Of A Warm Fire!

Yesterday, had us visiting the village of St. Jacob's, Ontario looking for a special model of gas fireplace. It is a Peninsula model, a 3-sided view. The logs are beautiful and are impinged with flames and embers that look quite real to me. There are many embers on the bottom of the fire that glow just like a wood fire. This fireplace is going to be placed almost in the middle of our new room and will be a beautiful focal point.

We saw several horse and buggies along the highway as is the custom of the Mennonite people who are of German heritage and who farm in this area. Many do not have electricity and some use horse drawn plows instead of tractors.

People swarm to the farmers market they run and it was was quite busy. We bought their famous kolbassa, (sp?) back bacon, back ribs, curds, rye bread, and fudge. Of course, we had to have their signature Oktoberfest sausage on a bun with onions for lunch!
They had all the Christmas greenery there so we picked up two wreaths and some window boxes that were far cheaper than any we could get in our town.

These pics were taken out of the car window as we were moving so they're not that sharp but I'm surprised at the quality.

Early Snow Last Week

A surprise last weekend! It had all melted by dinner time and then tonight it's snowing again and they're predicting 10-20 cm! Maybe the kids will get a snow day from school!

Mooky followed in my footsteps...literally!

Happy Thanksgiving to all Americans! Have a great holiday.

Have a seat - it's going to be a long wait!

As my mother always said, "Wipe that smile off your face"!

Our BIG present this year comes already wrapped!

Aw, man! Just one more time?!!

I'm always out of step with everyone else!

"If I had a Hammer,"....I'd use it to shut that guy up!

Master of Deception

behind the smokescreen he cowers
hiding his true self
so well
that even he is fooled
the same lies
trip off his tongue repeatedly
and fall fluently
from lips so well versed
and rehearsed
we blindly place trust
in his convincing performance
and then he effortlessly
reels us in
almost hooked
only to catch himself instead
for he is pathetically delusional
and has forgotten that smoke rises
to signal its warning...
behind smoke and mirrors
lie his fears
and he is exposed for what he is -
a liar and denier
and no longer

a master of deception

Mooky's Point of View!

It was tough but I think I finally nailed it!

I own all the way to this tree!

Hmmm....where else do I have to mark? Oh, way up where the workmen are tearing up all my favourite things!

This renovation is really scary!

I have to go around and rub my scent on everything again and again just to remind the builders who owns the place!

I'll BE DONE IN A MINUTE!

He was not exactly a pillar of strength!

She was trying to curb her appetite!

Two bricks short of a load?!

Her record was unblemished.

( Cover Girl can't touch what happened to many of our maples this year. Does anyone know what this is called?)

Hallowe'en and Sister Cruella!

Hallowe'en is over for another year. I've noticed that in town here over the years, people get decorated almost as much as they do for Christmas. All we ever had was ONE pumpkin with triangle eyes/nose and the square teeth carved at 6:00 p.m. in freezing temperatures when my dad got home from work!

My husband's secretary's kids came to show us their princess and monster costumes. She and her husband were dressed up too, to take them around to a few houses. They looked great. My sister used to do that and get my mom and dad to give out the candy while they went out. What fun and fabulous memories these kids will all have!
My sister is a hoot! (She taught me well!) When you teach school, there are all kinds of opportunities to dress up as different characters on various occasions. I think this pic was when "Cruella" came out during an assembly advertising a Hallowe'en Dance-a-thon. All the kids in her class couldn't believe it! To them, she rocked! I can't imagine one of my Gr. 4 teachers ever doing this in 1963.

I have always loved doing this sort of thing; my years at summer camp make it a natural response. It is so much fun, especially if you can find a partner-in-crime. That is sometimes difficult because not all teachers are hams. I wish I had taught at my sister's school!
Here's to dressing up and having fun!
