Mooky Goes To The Dentist!

Yesterday, my 4 year-old cat, Mooky, had her 2 canine teeth plus 3 other teeth extracted. She apparently has bad gum disease and was in discomfort while eating. We'll never know whether this was really needed and just a money grab-scam by the vets, but I guess we have to trust them...to the tune of $560.

She came home quite drowsy and later, wobbly on her feet. She also was leaking urine for awhile. The vet gave her a needle for anti-biotic that will last 2 weeks, plus a needle for pain. We have to continue giving her liquid oral pain meds for 4 days. Mooky has switched to soft food, needless to say!

Her usual habit of rubbing her cheeks on everything has been slightly curtailed...that is to say, she starts to do it and then quickly realizes that it hurts so stops....but then continues to do this over and over again ! Such is the way of strongly ingrained habits of animals!

Poor Mooks!

The New Receptionist! Some New Patients Too!

"I've been waiting for half an hour!"


(A long time ago we had these black cats, Goblin (big guy on the left) and Soot, (kitten) who just loved to come in the office and sit in the waiting room chairs. It always looked as if they were next in line!)

"I'm sorry, we're booked solid!" (And if that phone rings once more, I'm NOT answering it! I'm on break!)

"I can't seem to find your file. When were you here last?"

"Okay, I'm officially on break!"







"I wonder what that machine could do for all my aches and pains? Think I'd better chew the wires and find out!"

(Our cat, Socks, loves sitting in various chairs in the office. She works the waiting room to get her daily dose of attention and she usually gets quite a bit!)

Hit The Dirt!

Our renovation is well underway. It's weird to see the old porch torn off in about five minutes and all the bricks piled up in a corner only to expose ugly old tar paper. There will be a lot of rapid change in the next three months!

This house was built in 1921. It had only ever had one owner when we bought it in 1987. It was in fabulous shape. My husband converted the front part and basement to be used as his chiropractic office. Twenty years later and ten years till retirement, we are opening up the first floor towards the back so we have more living space and can can see into our yard. There is also going to be a washroom on the main floor! Yahoo!

The kitchen will be opened up and updated. Nothing much on this floor has been done since the 60's. I'm not kidding! When we moved in, it still had that old grey arborite with the white flecks! We're planning on putting in an island and some new cupboards that slide out to save me from lying on my belly trying to search in the dark for the stir fry pan!

It sure is a mess now, and it'll probably get worse, but I can hardly wait to get it all done and just enjoy it.

For now, my cats will just have fun playing "King of The Castle And The Hole" and I'll have my camera eady to document the whole process.

I am still trying to be angry at you
but as I go by,
I tickle your belly,
you make a high-pitched little kitten noise,

forgiving you, once again!

Mooky’s Side or… The REAL STORY! (Mooky’s Rebuttal!)

First of all, I'm NOT making my words go all the way down the middle of the page like she does! What's up with that anyway? (She's far too centred.)

And, yes, I do have friends! Lots of 'em!

They think I'm cool too! (Not to mention pretty, with my tiger stripes and leopard spots!)

We do important kitten work, like chasing mice, although none of us have actually caught one yet.

We're training! And good prowling just has to take place in the dark.

And of course I can hear it, you idiot, but do you really think I'm going to fall for that shaking the kitty kibble trick?

As for the following the string tactic....how lame! You insult me!

I'm way past that! I'm almost a year old! I have real live things to track and terrorize now!

You were worried, were you? Big surprise! You worry about EVERYTHING! Relax!

Yes, I've won again. Who ever heard of a curfew for kitties defined as, "when the dark night clouds come"!

Think about it, old girl...that's when we cats just start getting pumped!

You know you can't ever be angry with me so stop trying. I'm just too darn cute!

And I know how to work it, baby! Got those irresistible kitten sounds down pat! Always works! "You're melting, you're melting!" And "I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping!"……
