Mooky, Come In!

Frustrating Felines!

Mooky Girl, come home!
Right now!
I've been calling you every hour since mid-night!
What ARE you doing?
Hanging out with your friends?
(You have friends?!)
You're wandering way too far
and you're not even a male!
What's that?
You must be hungry!
I'm shaking the dry food box!
Can't you hear it? !
I thought cats had superb hearing?
Why didn't you chase that string
I dragged in your little Mooky Pansy Face
hours ago?!
Instead, you jumped with a twist
and ran away
and I refuse to play that game, Mooks!
Well, I'm trying so hard not to worry
I'm trying to be mad at you
but it's not working!
PLEASE COME HOME!
(So I can get some sleep!)

……..6:00 a.m. and no sightings…..
I'm e-mailing my friend, sharing my woes,
and something tells me to check
once again…
and there you come running
up the steps,
zipping in by me,
right to your food bowl,
without even giving me a backward glance!
I noticed you had a smug but hungry look
on your little face,
and yes, you have won again!
You got to stay out way past Kitty Curfew!
And now
you are dead asleep
on top of the cat condo
"Queen of the Night" !
I am still trying to be angry at you
but as I go by,
I tickle your belly,
you make a high-pitched little kitten noise,
and I melt,
forgiving you, once again!

Mrs. L, frustrated but very relieved!

Mooky’s Side or… The REAL STORY! (Mooky’s Rebuttal!)

First of all, I'm NOT making my words go all the way down the middle of the page like she does! What's up with that anyway? (She's far too centred.)

And, yes, I do have friends! Lots of 'em!

They think I'm cool too! (Not to mention pretty, with my tiger stripes and leopard spots!)

We do important kitten work, like chasing mice, although none of us have actually caught one yet.

We're training! And good prowling just has to take place in the dark.

And of course I can hear it, you idiot, but do you really think I'm going to fall for that shaking the kitty kibble trick?

As for the following the string tactic....how lame! You insult me!

I'm way past that! I'm almost a year old! I have real live things to track and terrorize now!

You were worried, were you? Big surprise! You worry about EVERYTHING! Relax!

Yes, I've won again. Who ever heard of a curfew for kitties defined as, "when the dark night clouds come"!

Think about it, old girl...that's when we cats just start getting pumped!

Me? "Queen of the Night"? Well, if the crown fits.

You know you can't ever be angry with me so stop trying. I'm just too darn cute!

And I know how to work it, baby! Got those irresistible kitten sounds down pat! Always works! "You're melting, you're melting!" And "I'm sleeping, I'm sleeping!"……

Until tonight that is...!

Okay where's the centre button just so I know....

Man it’s a tough climb up to the condo! DO NOT DISTURB!

Mike: Thanks! They are pretty cool. Do you have one?

Chase: I think she's a doll! Sure, you can try but she might squirm to get down!

Old Old...Hills! Thanks so much! Don't they all just grab your heart?! Mookie is a sweetie too. She's got me wrapped around her proverbial little paw!!

Pauline: Thanks! I did this for a Gr. 3 poetry lesson late in June and they illustrated parts of the scene. It turned out great! I had a cd in the computer with several pictures of Mooky so they could draw and colour her "accurately"! There's so much you can teach this age with your own work and they're very attentive because it's your life. I get more passionate and they pick that up too. I used to start each day with a cat story, then they'd demand it, and I'd have to create/embellish most of them after awhile!

Meno: How do they get such expressions i to their cat faces?!!

Old lady: Translation: "I rule!"

Barbara: Yes, I remember that! It just makes you want to hug and cuddle them all the more when they do come back...which they hopefuly do but not always.

Hi MOI! "Hey mummy, I've got to lead my own life you know...to socialise and probably have a family of my own too..." Are you experiencing the empty nest syndrome?

You know MOI yesterday I was the first to read this but I just couldn't enter this window!!!

Right now, I'm just so very happy that my own Mad-Kitty is an inside cat. It's bad enough to have to search the house to find what drawer or closet she's hiding in if we've not seen her in a while. To have to call her in from the glories of the outside would make me crazier than usual.

If Mooky wants to go on a vacation, send Mooky here. There would be tuna and massage and combing...
what a sweet kitty.

Twilite: Yeah, she's growing up and doesn't need me!! (Weird you couldn't get on the comments.)

Diana: Yes, sometimes Mooky hides in strange places inside too, like under beds, in coat cupboards and even in the attic..after I've gone up and come back down and lock it!!!

GR: Siunds like a great summer camp for kitties! Signher up for the last 2 weeks in July! Do they have activity sign-ups for stuff like pouncing, mousing, flea-training, pawprints arts and crafts, beginner swimmers...?!!!

Rapunzel: She just spent another night out last night and my husband didn't tell me because I'd worry!

Sounds like me ! when Arthur is not coming home which happened once for 4 days ! It was terrible especially because you don't know where he is. I didn't know that you have a cat too and such a sweet one ! You should come to my cat blog "My cats and funny stories" if you have time.

Oh Mooky I'm glad you came home because you were making me very worried too! I have a kitty who does the exact same thing to me and I worry every time she impatiently waits for me to open the door as soon as it gets dark. I can't go to sleep till she runs back through the door for the last time before morning. One time my cat did catch a mouse and after coming through the door inside her stomach rejected that tasty meal and it ended up in the floor, talk about gross! She seems to be sticking to her dry cat food after that, thank goodness! :D

I love your cat blog!

Lynnette: If only they knew how upset they made us when we don't know where they are! They may be worse than kids! Mine LEAVES 1/2 EATEN CHIPMUNKS AT THE BACK DOOR!

Mooky- as cute as you may be that was BAD to worry MOM that way!!!

There would have been no kitty kibble at this house.

When the dogs get out they will come running when the word "treat" is hollered. It seems feeding is more important than prowling, in dog world

Mookie is a cat, no doubt.
Our experience with female cats, when they are around one year old, they suddenly get "wild", as they in a moment realize they are predators, and they stay away for a while. To our frustration and concern.
Guess we know that feeling of emptiness and clumsiness.

To day we are used to it. And have also remarked somthing that never fails: When our cats do not show up for dinner or supper and stay out into the night: The day after it allways rains. Our best weatherforcats.

A very well written post. I love you have written it from "two sides".
