slide

red landmark

inviting, exciting, climbing,

a "Whee!" moment

slide

#2 Haiku

the new slide looms ahead

excited kids are lining up

i run to join them

#3 Free Verse

life track

two steps fast forward

engaged youth

flying full speed ahead

brakes broken

life whizzing by

blurred

barely time to look

and none to linger

we race to reach

the place

we think we want to be

and then -

the red light

whip lashed into realization

stunned with abruptness

nowhere to go

but backwards slide

sometimes a slippery slope

until we stop

at a dead end -

and then

a New Beginning

in
