Poetry Friday: "Slide"

Thanks to Mona's husband!

# 1. Simply Cinquain!

slide
red landmark
inviting, exciting, climbing,
a "Whee!" moment
slide
#2 Haiku
the new slide looms ahead
excited kids are lining up
i run to join them
#3 Free Verse
life track
two steps fast forward
engaged youth
flying full speed ahead
brakes broken
life whizzing by
blurred
barely time to look
and none to linger
we race to reach
the place
we think we want to be
and then -
the red light
whip lashed into realization
stunned with abruptness
nowhere to go
but backwards slide
sometimes a slippery slope
until we stop
at a dead end -
and then
a New Beginning
in
The Other Place

We slide to the finish and the ride is waay to fast! M.O.I. this poem is a really good analogy of life and I love your Friday night poetry!! *much applause!* I really like the ending of your poem tonight, it's gives a promise of a new beginning when that quick ride is over!

slide of life.. philosophical.

we think we want to be
and then -
the red light
whip lashed into realization
stunned with abruptness
nowhere to go
but backwards slide

moi,

i wanted to reply to ur comment on my blog here. i love your comemnts becos they always make me think and come up with a clearer picture..

i think ive failed to convey this one properly.. i was not talking about the infatuation kind of love.. that too, as about love of all kinds.. between friends, mother and child, between a husband and wife, between a master and a disciple.. but also i was specifically referring to love between two souls, the kind that exists just because of the gravity between them, the primal force.. a gravity that goes beyond relations, beyond races, beyond geographical boundaries and outer appearances. when you meet a stranger or read someone's work and you feel that touching of the soul.. and the other soul responds to yours.. that is just so precious.. so pure and unique and it would be beyond the mundane.

the song itself expresses so beautifully.. i will translate just a few words for you..

weve seen the glow of love in our eyes, so fragrant..
to bring it to the level of the mundane would be a desecration.
it is just a flow between our souls,
let this love remain as just love, without binding it in a relationship.

something like that. :)

The slide was my favourite playground feature! I love the imagery in all three of these poems!

Lynclay: Thanks! (Yep, I'm not usually done writing until Fri. night and sometimes it becomes "Poetry Saturday"!!

It is a comfort to end with a positive upswing even if in the content, there is struggle. Hope that's what really happens to us!

Jocelyn: Thanks..you know, I googles etc. for an image but couldn't find the one in my mind so it was better without!

Mystic Rose: Thanks! I love, a "whee moment!"
You can certainly feel hitting the wall sometimes in life and surely after several false alarms, we do finally see the end, but I like happy endings so I curved it upwards at the close.

Thanks for the translation...I missed hearing the song! Maybe my speakers were at too low a volume. Makes more sense now! It is neat how we "soul-connect".

Mona: I loved it too and mine were always red, but most I see now are yellow, in Google too!
Also loved the teeter-totter even as a teenager! Many talks about boys on that one!
