July's Abundance!

Some neat July things in my line of vision!

The first pic is a beautiful pot of begonias with the biggest and richest red flowers I've ever seen!

The next one is a clump of gorgeous full astilbe in our new garden just at their peak!

Caught in the act! Then, there's my naughty kitty, Socks, feverishly chomping down on her favourite, the pointed ends of the spike plants in the box on our back porch! She does the same with our indoor plants...we're spikeless! And it's POINTLESS to chastise her, cats don't care!

We live next door to this amazing flower shop so we have to strive to keep our place looking almost as good in this business section of the main street. They live upstairs over their store and are wonderful neighbours and friends.

Last, we have huge full hanging baskets hanging on both sides at the front of our house. We buy these from the flower shop, who orders them to hang from each lamp post in our town. They are an eye-catcher and we get plenty of compliments on them. My husband feeds all these plants once every two weeks.

Astilbe reminds me of pink feather boas...mine is just going past now. Don't you just love summer flowers? Send hub with watering can please, and come yourself for a cuppa in the garden.

Renny:We spend a lot of $$ at that shop plus numerous others! Yes, he has a green thumb and probably a few fingers too! LOL

Twilite: Oh yeah! That cat gets fed allright! I only do some watering and pick the dead blooms off but he does everything else.

Toraa: Thanks! We love our home and we're just about to staret a reno at the back!

I think I can hear that song from here...no wait...that is here playing on my computer too!

Old, Old lady of the hills: Thanks! Those are true compliments from the Queen of Flower Pics!
And Socks is a true nimble cat. Such balance and agility to get to what she desires!

Colleen: They take a long time to plant! We should all pur our yards together and have a huge tea party!

Mystic: Our window boxes are so full now with pansies still! We have a lot of urns and baskets.

Pauline: Yes, boas! Exactly!
Well, he might have to bring his special hose attachment where he puts the plant food!

Bob: Thanks...we do have several of them and then many just sitting around on patios etc.

My old cat used to bite all the spiders off our indoor spider plants!

NTD: Thanks for coming to see and be inspired, although I'm not quite sure how you're inspired!?

Stephen: Thanks. I'm still status quo so far as in no results of any tests till July 24th.

Rapunzel: Thanks. She is a doll and has lots of people nd even cat friends!!

Coll: My husband puts a lot of time and effort into making them look nice beside the flower shop!

Socks visits the flower shop every day so I hope she doesn't chew off all the plnts they plan to sell!

Gr: Yes, isn't it beautiful? But then, we have to try and keep up with them to look good!

Chase: Thanks. Go for the hanging baskets. They're easy to keep. Maybe you can hang them on an outside balcony?

Do you not just put spikey plants there for the benefit of Socks anyway? In fact - is everything in your house not really there for Socks? I'm sure that's what Dixie thinks about our house. He looked so hurt... wounded in fact when I threw a cushion near him to stop him scratching up my sofa the other day.

Yep, that is what I thought your tag said, "socks eating plants".

I think it has been a pretty nice July so far - not too hot or dry, but with a good amount of sun. Normally I would expect the foliage to be turning a dark green, but, while it is not the bright, vibrant green of Spring, it is still a flourishing, mature green.

So far, the weathe ris working in my favour. Ottawa Hydro are challenging people to reduce power consumption by at least 10% and they will give you an additional 10% off - I think easily on my way to reduce my power bill.

I would think that if the astilbe grow there you owuld have no problem with the cleome growing. You would have to plant seeds first year and collect some for the future, but they would be a pretty addition to your wonderful plant beds.
Thanks for the visit.

TopChamp: You've sure got that right! AND it seems for her little sister, Mooky too!

Oh, the gall you have not to let her wreck the sofa!

Diana: They do need attention and it takes time to plant them. My husband spends hours!

Richard: It has been sunny and a nice temp except for that 5 day heat wave, but we still could do with more rain here, so the farmers say too.

Hey, that's a good incentive Ottawa Hydro has. Our office might not do it with the air con, lights and laundry necessity. But our house would.

Goatman: Thanks for the tip! I'll ask the flower people next door whether they can get it and what they know about it. Sounds promising.

Barbara: Thanks! I hope someone's looking after your yard abundance while you're at camp!! More plants die when we're away and someone else is in charge.
