Back From A Break!

I have just spent five fabulous days at my sister's cottage.....great warm and sunny weather, beautiful refreshing swims in the lake, relaxing on the sand beach with a magazine, canoeing while trying to capture loons on camera, walking on the hilly cottage roads, feasting on tasty barbecued dinners, gorgeous sunsets and best of all - lighthearted and fun company!

We even made the annual visit to a resort to hear my brother-in-law play guitar and sing at a regular gig on a screened off porch overlooking a lake. There was also a huge craft fair in the closest town (a forty minute drive) where I picked up quite a few cool gifts for people.

I could so be a cottage person! You just can't beat summer in Ontario's Muskoka North!
***Caught this deer coming right up to the deck to munch on foliage early one morning.
***Me holding the much too short paddle after a tour around the lake.

Oh, that looks like heaven!

I spent the weekend in a river up in the hills listening to music. We're tempted to buy a little cabin up there, so I understand your desire for a 'cottage life.' :-)

Looks like a great place to have been. Notwithstanding the paddle, the time spent was probably too short too.

I think the deer finishes off the post beautifully.

Nancy: That's my dream home ...a small log cabin on water! Well, maybe not in this life but my next one for sure!

Pauline: It's a hoot when we get together with our oldest sister and we have a sisterfest cottage weekend!

Richard: Very witty, Richard! Yes, I could always spend more time there. The deer was amazing to me, but the cottage owners aren't so thrilled to have them so tame and eating their flowers. The bears are attracted too when people put out food.

Meno: Thanks! It was a great time and was kinda neat seeing that deer! (We were both happy 'cause we were well fed!)

Bob: You gotta come some day..in the summer! It's much like Upper state New York.

Twilite: Thanks! It is so refreshing up there in cottage country.

Diana: I could spend a lot of time there. My sister's lucky in that she's spent most of every summer up there with her kids. They (twins) are now 26 and 21 and still love to come up.

Barbara: It is a neat place but the log cabins we're going to soon are even more remote and pristine.

Rapunzel: Thanks. I was lucky to be there when the deer came. It was so quiet I didn't know it was there!

What a pristine place...I don't blmae you for spending time there. The lakes and rivers here are polluted with those things we cna't see...chemicals and radioactive waste. Years ago it would have been tires, etc.

Oh how wonderful it all looks and sounds. Such a great escape from city life. I would think it would do much for the spirit. I think I am going to have to find someone who would not mind a visitor to their cottage for a couple of days. :-)

Stephen: This is a rather nice environment as yet untouched. Hope it stays as much like that as possible.

Coll: I'd choose it over the cuty any time! Bring your bathingsuit!

Colleen: I wish I could! I'd be rich!

Grizz: It was great but sometimes a wee break just whets your appetite for more!
