Misted In!
As happens in August, the cool night air is colder than the water temperature, resulting in a beautiful mist. I was drawn to the lake each morning and documented the gradual lifting of the mist.
These pictures I took were just begging for a poem.
See below.
morning mist
magical mysterious
dreamy elusive
swirling slowly
eerily enveloping our canoes
drifting in and out of view
radiant rays
gradually banishing the mist
as the sun
is silently slipping
up over the mountain
like an illusion
we're emerging
and then disappearing
behind the curtain
beholding this beauty
and becoming a part of it -
melded maids of the mist
Mother of Invention, thinking that getting up at 5:30 a.m. was definitely worth it!

So apt a description and feeling.
That anomaly occurs down here most mornings throughout the year. It is one of the visions that I enjoy most.

The pictures together with the poem are a powerful message. You can look back on this post and remember a beautiful moment in your recent trip.

Old Lady: Thanks. It's one of those things you just want to share with someone, even though really seeing it elicits an individual and unique response. Very often a scene in nature is a stimulus for my writing.
Diana: Thanks...yeah you got so caught up you printed it twice! HA! Ha! That dang post button!
Barbara: Yes, thanks...sometimes pictures are fine to be left without descriptors but other times they are just crying for some words. It is always a challenge for me to create the words in a way that will do justice to the pictures.

Carmi: Thanks! I'd gladly wake up at that hour, except the place I want to be is 7 hours away!
