Whatever Weather Thoughts!
Heat wave broke
With rain teaming down
Farmers smile
Instead of frown!
torrential downpour
and outside Zellers
people gathered, talking as if friends,
daring each other
to make a dash,
making jokes about
the money to be made,
renting umbrellas
that they had IN their cars
to ferry us to ours.
some ran
with newspapers over their heads,
shouting expletives all the way.
others stood stock-still and stared,
incredulous looks on their faces
and vowed they'd go when it let up.
I waited and listened
to the cheery chatter --
a study in social psychology,
until finally,
I walked
ankle deep
in lake-size puddles
to my clean car,
smiling at how different
we all are!
walked for the first time
in four hot humid days
too torrid to exercise
I would have gladly
gone out in the downpour
and spelled relief
with each footstep
splashing in the puddles
If it rains long enough on your heart, does it rust?
Does it get "flooded", unable to start again for awhile?
Mother of Invention, still listening to severe weather warnings!

Sounds like everything is just a little bigger in your part of the world! Even the rain...

Barbara: Well, that day it sure seemed like Monsoon Season! Torrential Downpour!
Renny: We all complain about it and it sure is an ice breaker in elevators!!!
Weather sure dictates what activities we do and how we do them.
