Summer Bedroom in Early Spring!
Welcome to my favourite room in our house! I think of this as my cottage.
We're looking out through our winter bedroom into the beloved summer bedroom. Come on through and have a look!
It is surrounded by windows and you can tell by the brick, it was an addition. The windows are closed at night since it has still been just below freezing temps. We open them as needed.
You can see the door out to the balcony where I took the sunrise pics, and the door we've just come through from the winter bedroom. This is my inner-outer sanctum! I love it because it opens spaces in my mind and puts my whole psyche in a vacation place.
My cats even have a condo where
they can look out onto their territory! There is an electric heater to take off the night chill in April, May, September and October.
This is what it looks like from outside in the back yard.
We are planning an addition onto this back lower floor but they're not touching my favourite room!

It WOULD seem like a vacation moving out to the porch. I envy your summer bedroom! When you add onto the lower level, make a deck on top to extend your little porch?
Here in the south, back when houses were built with wrap-around porches, it was common to sleep there during the summer.

Bob! I just came on to add that recently, we have been opening our windows, and have decided to put a flat roof on the addition so we can extend the balcony porch. You must have been reading my mind!

A beautiful space to read or take a late afternoon nap in, and so crisp and welcoming, very lovely pictures.

Meno: I really appreciate having it...it's something simple, yet it makes me feel happy and uplifted!
Gewels: I love the openness and fresh night air..it's like camping out!
Barbara: Yep! My fav. to. We've had a lot of people take the plans as a prototype to build into their houses. It was common in the old days. It's a 1921 model!
Shara: I have an afternoon nap there almost every day and race out there when there's rain to hear on the roof or a neat storm to watch. It's like being in a treehouse!

Our friends have a summer kitchen. That would be a nice addition to the house.
I answered what you wanted to know about meds on my blog. Amatryptaline works better with Gabapentin or Pregabalin as a cocktail at bedtime. Helps with the neuralgia.
Takes a month to be most effective.

Can one possible have a shorter distance from winter- to summerhome? It looks so fantastic and I so clearly understand why you love this summerbedroom.
May you have a wonderful weekend.

I absolutely love the summer bedroom! It looks so cozy. I imagine waking up on a Sunday morning to the sun shining and birds chirping. Sounds like heaven. Plus it's someplace to go when the hubby gets on your nerves!

I remember seeing this room from the outside in one of your earlier pics, and you've mentioned it many a time, so it's great to see inside the summer bedroom now! Love it! I could imagine being very uplifted in that room... so airy (my bedroom is about 2 feet bigger than my single bed! :-S ).
If I come over, can I stay in this room? Or on the balcony, when you have it built? :-D
Your home looks very cosy... I think it would be very comfortable being there!

Annelisa:
Yes,that room is definitely reserved for you! Except you wouldn't want to be out there in the winter! You'd need the heater big time and lots of wool blankies!
You would love my house and it will be a lot nicer when some kind of reno gets done!

Down here, back in the day, most people slept on their porches in the summer time. That sure is a pretty summer room!

It's like a built in B&B or high class camping. When we first spent the night in our log cabin I felt like we were in a treehouse.

Old Lady: Thanks. Yes, I can see that it would be popular, especially before air con. because it is so much cooler. I just love it.
Colleen: This is right up in the trees! It is kinda neat.
